Federal deputy Rodrigo Maia was reelect on Friday, Feb. 1st, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies for the next two years. It is the third time in a row that he takes office. Maia won the election with 334 of the 512 votes.
The victory of Maia can be considered a victory of Bolsonaro government. This victory was already expected, as the deputy gathered the highest number of subtitles in support of the candidacy – 15 acronyms, including the PSL, party of President Jair Bolsonaro.
Also were candidates to the position: Fábio Ramalho, who had 66 votes, Marcelo Freixo, 50 votes, João Henrique Caldas, 30 votes, Marcel Van Hattem, 23 votes, Ricardo Barros, 4 votes, General Peternelli, 2 votes. Three votes were blank.
