Last Sunday (19), another meeting was called by Temer, in the Alvorada Palace. During five hours, the president and ministers discussed the situation in Roraima, after the confrontations between Brazilians and Venezuelans in the municipality of Pacaraima.

For the meeting today are expected the ministers Eliseu Padilha (Civil House), Joaquim Silva and Luna (Defense), Moreira Franco (Mines and Energy), Edson Duarte (Environment), Gustavo Rocha (Human Rights), Sergio Etchegoyen (Cabinet of Institutional Security), and Grace Maria Fernandes Mendonça (Attorney General of the Union).

Measures

At the meeting Sunday, Temer and the ministers set emergency measures for the region of Roraima, where there is a large concentration of Venezuelan immigrants. Immediately, 120 men will be sent to the National Force and 36 volunteers from the health area, who will work in partnership with university hospitals.

The men will go to Roraima in two stages: initially 60 and then 60, still with no set date, which totals 151 men of the National Force in Pacaraima, with 31 already in the state.

At the same time, the border will be organized, with adequate control and sorting, and with the expansion of the Union’s presence in the social and security areas.

There are also plans to build ten shelters for immigrants. According to the authorities, two are in the conclusion phase. There will also be an effort to send immigrants to other regions of the country – the so-called internalization.

Another measure is the maintenance of a transitional shelter, between Boa Vista and Pacaraima, for the humanitarian assistance of migrants awaiting the internalization process, in order to reduce the number of people on the streets.

Negotiations will be intensified for the beginning of the works of the “linhão”, which will allow the integration of the state of Roraima with the national electricity system.

Fuck

The fist of the crisis in Roraima occurred two days ago, Saturday (18) , in Pacaraima, Roraima. Residents of the city attacked tents of Venezuelan immigrants, including firing fire, after a local merchant was assaulted and beaten. According to local authorities, there is no record of injuries among Venezuelans. It is suspected that the assault was practiced by a group of Venezuelans.

After the episode, the Army confirmed that 1.2 thousand Venezuelans crossed back the border of the country with Brazil.

In a note, the Presidency office said that the federal government “is committed to protecting the integrity of Brazilians and Venezuelans,” and that Itamaraty is in contact with the Venezuelan authorities.
